7-Day Start Before You're Ready

For the thing you keep planning to start. Ship a small version this week.

By the end: A first version exists in the world, and you know what you'd change next.

Helps most with: perfectionism, fear of failure, fear of uncertainty.

Starting a program adds it to your Action Plans. No credits needed.

  1. 1

Name the thing and its smallest version

Write one sentence: what it is, and what a version you could finish in a week looks like.

    About 10 min

  2. 2

    Decide what “good enough” means

Three checks it has to pass. Anything else is optional.

    About 10 min

  3. 3

Work on it for 25 minutes

Timer on, notifications off. Stop when the timer ends even if it's messy.

    About 25 min

  4. 4

    Show it to one person

Someone kind. Ask “What's the one thing you'd change?” — just one.

    About 15 min

  5. 5

    Make one change, not ten

Apply the single most useful piece of feedback.

    About 25 min

  6. 6

Set a publish or send date

Put it in your calendar with a reminder. Tell one person the date.

    About 5 min

  7. 7

    Ship it

Send, post, submit or launch the good-enough version. Then write down how it felt.
